From the Dust Returned

Wow. It has been a long time since I've had anything other than a mostly blank page living at benjaminkohl.com. I've been working on this new site off and on for quite some time but only recently felt motivated to get it launched.

I built this site because I wanted a place to share my hobbies, ideas and tutorials. I also wanted an excuse to build a website 100% my way. I am not a designer nor do I enjoy over-designed websites that are difficult to use so I set out to make this site practical, easy to navigate and easy to read. No annoying pop-ups, no spying, no stupid cookie consent banners, no chat widgets, no prompts for push notifications, no ads, etc.

The Internet is about 98% garbage now (I measured) and this website is my attempt to make it just a little more fun and maybe even useful. Here is just the tip of the iceberg for what I have planned for this site:

• Action Figures. I'd really like a place to share my passion for my G.I. JOE Classified, MOTU Origins and Masterverse action figure collections. I'll share photos and descriptions and maybe even some personal opinions on releases.
• Coding Tutorials. I am a web developer by profession. I love working with tools like PHP/Laravel, Craft CMS, Vue, React, Alpine, Tailwind, etc. I sometimes come up with cool solutions for problems and I'd like to share them when I can.
• Business / Tech. I have a lot of strong opinions about tech and software and how the web has become needlessly unusable and/or inaccessible.
• Product Endorsements. I'm not talking about sponsored endorsements. I sometimes come across some cool products that I feel deserve some attention. These might be collectibles, toys, books, gadgets or even home goods.

This site is going to feel a bit unfocused and I am fine with that. My only goal here is to share what excites me or whatever is on my mind. Maybe some of what I know might help others along the way.
